Treatments

This is a list of the recommended treatments suitable for Goldfish. Remember to follow the manufacturers recommended dosage, always assume that the treatments are for adult fish and never use on newly hatched fry.

Never combine treatments unless the manufacturer specifically states that it safe to do so.

eSHa 2000
A must have for any serious aquarist, this treatment is a broad range antibacterial treatment and can be used in the coldwater aquarium. eSHa 2000 treats a wide range of fungal, bacterial and parasitic infections, helps heal wounds and protects the skin layer. Use eSHa 2000 for Fungus, Dropsy, Bacteria, Skin problems, Gill problems, Fin Rot, Tail Rot, Ulcers and Wounds.
eSHa 2000 has a shelf life of 7 years, an expensive treatment but is effective against almost all infections that you may come across, it is even used to treat wild caught daphnia prior to feeding.

Formalin
Formalin is an effective treatment against many parasites such as Whitespot, Flukes, Ciliates and Flagellates.
For water temperature of up to 14 Degrees C add 10ml per 1000 Litres (200 Gallons). Repeat this dose 10 days later. For water temperatures above 14 Degrees C add 10ml per 500 Litres (100 Gallons). Repeat this dose 8 days later.
Do not use below 10 Degrees C if salt is present in the pond. Always mix in a suitable container with some tank/pond water and distribute evenly around the tank/pond. For severe cases use as a dip at the rate of 1ml per 5 Litres for up to 30 minutes maximum, followed 48 hours later by a standard treatment.

Aquarium Salt
Aquarium Salt has no additives such as iodine or calcium silicate. Salt lessens the number of pathogens in the water. For example very few, perhaps only one or two groups, of freshwater bacteria tolerate aquarium salt well. My experience is that salt is effective in preventing fish trouble in freshwater aquariums.
Dose at a rate of 1 Tablespoon of Aquarium Salt for each 5 gallons of aquarium water.
